Alex Hood, Senior Customer Success Manager at LinkedIn, has fundraised for Mummy’s Wish on three separate occasions, and will continue to do so in the future, purely because he is “inspired by the cause”.

A visit from the Mummy’s Wish CEO to his employer at the time talked them through the services the charity offers to support mums with cancer. Alex says he was touched by the story, particularly the comfort bears whereby mums record their voices to be cherished by their young children.

“Reflecting on that heartfelt talk, I felt real empathy. I can’t imagine growing up without having my mum around. My family has been lucky in health and because of that, I felt like I wanted to give back. I thought everything should be done to help Mummy’s Wish fundraise,” said Alex.

In 2018, Alex set the goal to participate in the Sydney Marathon and raised approximately $900 for Mummy’s Wish in the process. The same year, he participated in a corporate fundraiser and again selected Mummy’s Wish as his nominated charity.

In 2022, Alex joined the team at LinkedIn, an organisation with a robust charitable program whereby they support employee participation in volunteer projects and match fundraising efforts dollar for dollar.

Alex set up a fundraising page and undertook “Peaks Challenge”, a 235km bike ride through Victoria’s Alpine region with 4,000m+ of elevation. He completed the challenge in 11 hours and 34 mins and says it was by far the hardest physical challenge he’s attempted and it felt amazing to cross the finish line. Alex’s own fundraising efforts from family and friends were doubled by LinkedIn, totalling an impressive $3,237 raised for Mummy’s Wish.

Thank you Alex for your ongoing support!
