Throwing a High Tea fundraiser is a great idea, particularly if you know the people attending will enjoy an afternoon of yummy nibbles, drinks and chatting with friends.

North-East Baptist in Nundah hosted their first high tea fundraiser for Mummy’s Wish back in 2016, and they’re currently counting down to their second event.

“A number of the ladies at North-East Baptist have a personal connection with Mummy’s Wish, event organiser Catherine said.

“Some of the ladies are personal friends of Bernadette, who helped found the organisation … and one or two of the mothers have been the recipients of Mummy’s Wish’s support services.”

The event in 2016 used a multi-avenue approach to raising more than $3400 for Mummy’s Wish.

“We donated a percentage of the ticket sales, held an auction, sold bottles of jam and also asked for a gold coin donation at the lolly bar,” Catherine said.

“We’re hoping to raise a similar amount at this year’s event.

“It takes a lot of time and energy to organise fundraising events, but it is such a special feeling when you see the event up and running and can hand over a cheque at the end of it.”
